The Promise of the Stacked Deck

A year or so into his pastorate, senior pastor Guy Pfanz was struggling to make things happen at Muncie Alliance Church, to no avail. In frustration he asked God if He would ever move in this church. One day, God spoke to his heart and said, "Guy, I'm going to stack the deck here."

"Stack the deck? Lord, what do you mean you are going to 'stack the deck here?' I don't get it." After a few weeks the Lord clearly spoke to him again and said, "I'm going to bring the right people in at the right time to do the right things. I am going to build this church."

Guy remembered that statement because it was a promise of hope. However, he never made the correlation between that promise and the ways in which God has moved through His church until many years after the fact.

We currently hold the promise of the stacked deck dear to our hearts as we now clearly see how God is shaping and molding this church in an organic, grassroots way, through the people He is bringing to Muncie Alliance.
